Maritime Digital Maturity Index
Score your fleet across the eight areas that decide whether a ship manager is audit-ready on demand or only with notice. The methodology, in full
Each dimension is scored 0–4 against the statement that best describes today, not the intention. The score is normalised (score ÷ 4), multiplied by the dimension weight, summed across all eight dimensions and expressed out of 100. Weights total 100%. A dimension scoring below 3 is treated as a gap, and gaps are ranked by shortfall × weight so the list reflects cost, not tidiness.

The levels are absolute, not graded on a curve, so a score taken this year is directly comparable with next year's. Re-run the index after each management review.
Common questions
How is this different from Lloyd's Register's Digital Maturity Index?
Class and consultancy maturity assessments are usually delivered as a paid engagement with a scoring model you never see. This index is free, needs no sign-up, and publishes its full methodology on this page: eight dimensions, their weights, the behaviour anchor for every score, and the thresholds for each level. You can reproduce the result on paper and challenge any part of it.
Is my input stored or sent anywhere?
No. The assessment runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted, and there is no email wall — print or save the result yourself.
Why are the dimensions weighted differently?
Weighting reflects how much each area affects operational risk and cost for a ship manager: maintenance and compliance evidence carry the most weight because they drive detention exposure and off-hire, while analytics and adoption matter but usually follow the first two.
What score should a well-run manager expect?
Most managers with a working PMS and indexed evidence land in Level 3. Level 4 requires condition data to change the plan, not just inform it, and Level 5 additionally requires third-party verifiable records. The index deliberately does not grade on a curve — the levels are absolute, so improvement is comparable year to year.
Can I use this in a board paper or a tender response?
Yes. The index is free to use and cite, including in internal papers, owner reporting and tender documentation. Please reference the methodology page so readers can see how the score was produced.
